Administrative HistoryThe Derby District comprised the areas covered by the following local authorities: Derby Borough Council, the urban district councils of Long Eaton and Swadlincote and the rural district councils of Repton and South East Derbyshire. Domesday books for the former Ilkeston Borough Council were compiled by the Matlock office (see D595/R4/1/59-62). Also, the boundaries of Derby Borough (later City) have been extended on the northern side since 1910: records relating to Allestree, Darley Abbey and Mackworth were compiled by the Matlock office (see D595/R4/1/7, D595/R4/1/68), though later volumes covering certain changes can be found here.
