This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:

Belper and Headge in Com. Derb. Surveighed Anno Domi 1698 by Mr John Halton: Plotted over again with an addition of the boundaries of Sir William Stanhops Mannor of Headge. Surveyor:John Halton. Scale: 60 chains or ¾ of an English mile [l:9500] divided in 5 and 10 chain segments. Size: 52 x 43 cm. Materials: coloured ink on parchment. Centred on: SK357497 Notes: top of sheet west, compass points in margins. Shows division of common between Belper and Heage with 'wall of partition', 603 acres in each township in various parcels within perimeter red line: a second yellow boundary [the addition in title] overlaps first to include Heage Common: bridges drawn at Bull Bridge and over Bucklands Brook with other topographical details primarily boundary marks, eg 'pinnicle upon the Stone Hill': houses, buildings and Chapel in elevation: house or tenants name: 'Courte House', 'smithy', 'Belper Dam' noted: roads, paths, bridges, gates: table lists parcels with reference letters: some additions by later hand, eg 'cole pitts in question'.
