| Administrative History | Alton and Co Ltd was based at the Warwick Brewery, Derby. It owned many public houses in Derby and in other parts of Derbyshire, as well as several others in Leicestershire, Staffordshire and Nottinghamshire. The firm was incorporated as a limited company in 1888. It was eventually taken over by Ind Coope Ltd, and re-named Ind Coope (North West) Ltd in 1959 and Ind Coope (Northern) Ltd in 1962. Ind Coope was taken over by Allied Breweries. The records later came into possession of the Punch Group, which bought out parts of Allied Breweries during the 1990s. |
