Administrative History | Dema Glass Ltd produced glassware primarily for the catering and hospitality markets. The Sheffield Road site in Chesterfield was first occupied in 1922 by the British Thompson Huston Glass Factory, shortly followed by the Lamp Caps Company. Between 1932 and 1996 the site had expanded significantly, including offices, research laboratories and storage silos.
In 1971, Dema Glass took over Edinburgh Crystal and Thomas Webb. <http://www.scotlandsglass.com/cms/>
The factory ceased operating in September 2001. In 2002 the factory closed after the company went into receivership. Demolition work proceeded to make way for a new stadium for Chesterfield Football Club. <http://www.level-two.co.uk/> |
