Title
Edward Revell Endowed School, Hallfieldgate (parish of Shirland)
Date
c1891-1976
Description
Edward Revell Endowed School was founded in 1637. It occupied premises on the old main road from Derby to Sheffield which were extended in 1830, 1853 and 1876. Few alterations were made to the school in the 20th century: as late as the early 1960s it was still lit by gas. In October 1964 the school moved to purpose-built premises nearby. These albums and cuttings books were compiled by Miss A B Smedley, Headmistress from 1956-1968. For other records of the school, see D3197 and D4833.
