Description | Stanton Vale Special School was established in the 1950s. Eventually, it came to cater for pupils aged between 2 and 19 with severe and profound learning difficulties from the Amber Valley and Erewash Borough areas. In 2001 there were 65 pupils grouped into nursery, primary, secondary and Sixth Form classes. The school's special facilities included a hydrotherapy room and a sensory garden. In July 2002 the school closed, with pupils transferring to Westbrook School, Long Eaton. Record keeping at the school appears to have been erratic, and no records were identified from the school's early years. |
