Administrative HistoryThe Crich Mineral Railway was a narrow gauge railway built by George Stephenson for the Clay Cross Company to transport stone from the quarries at Crich to Ambergate. It opened in 1841 and locomotives were used there from 1897. The line closed in 1957.
