Administrative HistoryIn 1989 the Japanese car manufacturer Toyota decided after considering several sites in the UK to locate its new car assembly plant at Burnaston near Derby. The decision was confirmed in December 1989 and production began in December 1992. These papers comprise correspondence, news cuttings, press statements etc accumulated by the then South Derbyshire Member of Parliament, Mrs Edwina Currie, in whose constituency the Burnaston plant was located.
