Administrative HistoryThese files were compiled by Colonel L J Worthington (1891-1975) as commanding officer and later honorary colonel of the Territorial Army signals unit at Derby. The unit was formed on 1 Apr 1908, and was called 'The North Midland Divisional Telegraph Company, Royal Engineers', with headquarters at Stoke on Trent. After World War I (in 1920), it was re-formed in Derby as the '46th Divisional Signals, Royal Engineers'. Soon afterwards it was transferred from Royal Engineers to the newly formed Royal Army Corps of Signals. By 1940 the name had changed again to '21st Corps Signals Regiment'.
