Archive CreatorStonebroom Secondary School
Administrative HistoryIn 1867 the Clay Cross Company established the Stonebroom British School for the children of their employees at Morton Colliery. In 1874 it became Stonebroom Board School, and, following the Education Act of 1902, Stonebroom Council Mixed School. New buildings were erected for the school in 1926, when it re-opened as a Secondary Modern School, taking in children aged 11-14, largely from the junior schools of Stonebroom, Shirland and Morton. The school was closed in 1977.
Custodial HistoryThe extracts were made as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations, and a copy was given to the Derbyshire Record Office in October 2001.
