Description
Three strips, arranged horizontally:
Row 1. Left to right.
A man dressed as a macaroni bows to a woman.
A ghost in a red cap talks to a seated woman.
A Lilliputian man stands between two women and declares: "How happy I could be with either ... ", lines sung by McHeath in 'The Beggar's Opera', by Gay.
A ghost in a mob cap pays a visit to a woman wearing glasses.
Row 2.
Four ghosts dance in a circle, while another plays the flute.
A Lilliputian woman talks to a man wearing a 'Bond Street Cravat'.
A man talks to his friend who is dressed as a jockey.
A seated Lilliputian couple. The man declares: "Cast my love, thine eyes around", lines taken from the song 'Damon and Florella - A Pastoral Dialogue', sung in pleasure gardens from the mid-seventeenth century.
Row 3.
A tall man and a short man look at each other.
A Lilliputian beau with an eyeglass looks at an actress wearing feathers.
A plainly dressed woman talks to a haughty mayor's wife, who wears feathers and a large muff.
A Lilliputian man talks to a weeping woman, saying: "Turn Fair Clora", the first line of the duet 'Damon and Clora', by Henry Harrington (1727 - 1816).
