"Edgar / Sharp through the hawthorn blows the cold wind"
Joseph George Holman (1764-1817) began acting in amateur theatricals at the Soho Academy and made his debut as Romeo at Covent Garden in 1784. He was known for his energetic and naturalistic style, which contrasted greatly with that of the Kembles. Holman first played Edgar at Covent Garden on 6 Mar 1786. |
