Charles Sisum Wright (1894-1985)
Date
1880s-1982
Description
Charles was the only son of the Revd William Peter Wright, and inherited the entire Eyam Hall estate on the death of his father in 1944. He grew up at his father's vicarage at Stokesley, Yorkshire. He was educated at Aysgarth School in Yorkshire from 1905 to 1908, Repton School from 1908 to 1913, and Trinity College, Oxford, from 1913 to 1920, with a break for military service 1914-1919.
He became a schoolmaster, and was employed as Assistant Master at Ascham St Vincent School, Meads, Eastbourne, from 1921 to 1922, and Assistant Master at King Edward VII School, Sheffield, from 1923 to 1946.
In 1946 he moved to Eyam Hall with his wife Irene Yeoman, whom he had married in 1922. Charles died without issue in 1985, upon which Eyam Hall devolved to Robert Wright, a descendent of the Great Longstone branch of the family.
