Description
This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:
The Platt of Parkhal belonging to the right Worshipfull Sir Francis Leake, Knight and Barronett. Taken by William Senior 1621. Surveyor:William Senior. Scale: no scale [1:7000]. Size: 33 x 60 cm. Materials:coloured ink on paper. Centred on: SK411636 Notes: cardinal points in margins, top of sheet south. Shows 'Ould Hall Steade', Ainsmore, Lockmore and at 'Snider Hill' a mill with waterwheel and furnace: 306 acres in named closes and acreage: dams, streams, mill cut, gates: buildings in perspective, red roof. Location: StaffordRO, D1798/HM38, with documents concerning this estate D1798/HM37/42 ; copies in DRO, D4996/6/26 photocopy; DRO, D5375/34/9/1, copy [1989]
