Letter: 1855: from Robert Rain to Mr Adamson: reports ill-health of Mrs Rangeley following death of her youngest son Thomas in hospital in Gibraltar en route from Crimea where he lost a leg in action. Hopes she will be spared as she is grandmother to orphaned children of Robert Rain's late cousin John Rangeley. [John Rangeley (1815-1854) and Thomas Rangeley (1832-?1855) were sons of Dennis Rangeley (1791-1853) surveyor, Thornsett Turnpike, and his wife Sarah (1793-1856).]
