Administrative History | A National School in Tideswell was opened by the Church of England in the 19th century. In 1974 it moved into premises formerly occupied by Bishop Pursglove School, a county secondary school which had opened in 1936 and closed on introduction of the comprehensive system. The secondary school had itself replaced the old Bishop Pursglove Grammar School, which had closed in 1932. On moving into the new premises, the primary school's name was changed from Tideswell Church of England School to Bishop Pursglove Church of England (Voluntary Aided) School. |
