Administrative HistoryThis collection of papers relates to the Local Defence Volunteers (LDV), later renamed the Home Guard, based at the Sheepbridge Coal and Iron Company Ltd's works near Chesterfield. The force was part of "B" Company in the 6th Derbyshire (Chesterfield Borough) Battalion Home Guard.

The papers were brought together by Lieutenant Aubrey St Hilary Aubrey, blast furnace manager at the works and Officer Commanding the force. Until 1941 it was known as No 2 Platoon, No 1 Section; thereafter it is referred to as No 6 Platoon.
Custodial HistoryThe documents were donated to Derbyshire Record Office by a private individual in June 2000 and June 2001.
ArrangementThe documents were originally loose in one folder in no discernable order and have been sorted into artificial series for clarity
