This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:

A plan of the Principal Veins of Lead Ore in the Liberties of Haddon, Hartle, Youlgreave, Stanton etc. etc. And also the Principal Soughs that have been driven and are now driving for the Unwatering of the same. Taken for the use of his Grace the Duke of Rutland in 1766. J. Nuttal del. Surv'd in 1766 by T. Southern. Surveyor:T. Southern. Scale: of 65 chains [1:9400] with rococo decoration: Size: 77 x 57 cm. Materials: coloured ink on parchment. Centred on: SK2365 Notes: compass indicator, north to top. Mining map showing named veins, rakes and soughs coloured red, but Hill Carr Sough, part yellow: few surface features noted: rivers, houses in block plan: cairns, shading represents steeply rising land: significant stones named: land boundaries with owners in area Eagle Tor to Stanton: ornate rococo cartouche containing long-beaked bird, surmounted by mock arms illustrating 4 miners working underground, a surveyor on crest.
