Description
Charles T Young was a dairy farmer at Ewe Close Farm, Bakewell. He also ran the Derbyshire Dairy Company with premises in Moss Side, Manchester. There may have been a connection with Ireland. In 1872 he married in Manchester. Not long after this he was convicted of indecent assault on a child and sent to prison for eighteen months. His wife, Alice Emma, went to America but returned to her husband on his release from prison. They had a daughter. In 1889 his wife petitioned for divorce, citing his adultery, cruelty and alleged rape of a child. Young fled to America when charged with rape. A decree nisi was granted in 1890.
