In 1567, Sir John manners inherited half of the former Vernon estates in Derbyshire. In 1920, due to the changing economic circumstances, sizeable parts of the Derbyshire estates, especially in and around Bakewell were sold. However, the family retained Haddon Hall
The main series of Manners estate papers are held at Belvoir Castle, Leicestershire, the seat of the Duke of Rutland.
