Administrative History | Gilbert Heathcote School was opened in 1895 as Newbold and Dunston Board Junior School. By 1920 it was known as Newbold Moor Boys Council School. It changed its name twice in 1928 first to Newbold Junior Boys School and then to Gilbert Heathcote School for Boys. From 1970 it formed part of Cavendish Junior School at Edmund Street, Chesterfield.
Cavendish Junior School's former title was Newbold and Dunston Council Girls School. It later became Cavendish Junior Girls School, amalgamating in 1970 with Gilbert Heathcote School to become Cavendish Junior School. For 1885-1907 see D4971 |
