Administrative History | Whittington Local Board of Health was established in 1861. Under the Public Health Act of 1875 it became an Urban Sanitary Authority, subsequently Whittington Urban District Council under the Local Government Act 1894. An Order of the Local Government Board in 1911 amalgamated part of Newbold cum Dunston Urban District Council with that of Whittington Urban District Council to form Whittington and Newbold Urban District Council. This in turn was absorbed into the Borough of Chesterfield by the Ministry of Health Provisional Order confirmation (Chesterfield Extension) Act, 1920. |

Further records were deposited by Chesterfield Borough Council, via Chesterfield Museum in February 2016. |
