Administrative HistoryWhittington Local Board of Healthwas established in 1861. In 1894 it was replaced by Whittington Urban District Council. An Order of the Local Government Board in 1911 amalgamated part of Newbold cum Dunston Urban District Council with that of Whittington Urban District Council to form Whittington and Newbold Urban District Council. This in turn was absorbed into the Borough of Chesterfield by the Ministry of Health Provisional Order confirmation (Chesterfield Extension) Act, 1920.
Custodial HistoryThese records were deposited in Derbyshire Record Office in a number of consignments. They were originally accessioned as D1504, and re-accessioned in 1999, apart from D5005/5/1-9, accessioned in April 2016.
