Administrative HistoryThe former School of Industry became Durrant Road School in 1872. The school closed in May 1901 when the building was bought and presented for use as a medical ward to the nearby Royal Hospital. The new Central (Mixed) School opened in 1901 to accommodate the former Durrant Road pupils.

In 1930 the school became the Central Modern Schools for Boys and Girls with the Boys School taking over the original Mixed school building and the Girls School in the former Infants building. Both schools closed when taken over by the military, the Boys in 1940 and the Girls in 1941.

Holywell Street Board Infants School was known as Durrant Road Infants School by 1883 and in 1901 transferred to the Central School. It closed in 1930 when the building became Central Modern Girls School.
