Administrative History | Originally Elder Yard Board Schools, in 1873 they became St Helens Street Schools for Boys and for Girls and Infants. The Infants became separate in 1898. A Junior Mixed department started in 1890 and was abolished in 1906. |
Custodial History | These records were transferred to Derbyshire Record Office in January 1999. |
Archivist Note | Revisions, August 2021, BS. - Data brought into line with ISAD(G) and Derbyshire Record Office standards, particularly with regards to Creator Name, Extent and Date fields. Series titles for D4965/1 and D4965/2 amended to reflect the department rather than the type of record (both previously read Log Books). D4965/2 had previously been identified as Girls and Infants School with a note that the Infants were separated in 1898, but this seems to be based on the earliest surviving log book for the latter beginning in 1898. The Infants department actually opened at the same time as the boys and girls departments, and the first log book has not survived. |
