Administrative History
Victoria National School, Vicar Lane, Chesterfield was established in 1844 for girls and infants. lt was named in commemoration of Queen Victoria's visit to Chesterfield and Chatsworth in 1843. The school closed in July 1930. The infants were transferred to William Rhodes and Hipper Street Schools and the girls to the Central Girl's School; Hipper Street Juniors; Derby Road Schools and St Helens Street Girl's and lnfants' School.

These records were transferred from Chesterfield Local Studies Library in September 1998.
