The school moved to a new site in 1832 and in the 1850s a Girls' and Infants' School was added. Reorganisation in 1935 saw the opening of a new County Secondary School to cater for pupils from a number of schools in the area. The school closed in July 1973 with pupils transferring to the newly built Kirk Hallam Secondary School. The school premises were taken over by the local primary school.
