Administrative HistoryEdward Hadlow Wise Dunkin was the son of the astronomer Edward Dunkin and his wife Mary Hadlow. He was born in 1849 at Greenwich, London and was a keen antiquarian with a particularly interest in genealogy and archaeology. His father had Cornish roots, and in 1878, Dunkin published "The Church Bells of Cornwall", followed by "Monumental Brasses of Cornwall" in 1882. Other publications included an index to the Act books of the Archbishop of Canterbury and a calendar of Sussex marriage licences. In 1902 he became a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries. Edward Dunkin had a house in Herne Hill, London, and another in Hastings, Sussex. He died at Herne Hill in 1915.
