Administrative History | Between 1815 and 1830 the Butterley Company was involved in the Indian iron industry. The company had supplied the Nawab of Oudh with a marine steam engine and a cast-iron bridge. Jessop & Co run by George Jessop owned collieries, a foundry, and an engineering works in Calcutta [Kolkata, India]. Between c1833-1840 George ceased to be a partner in the firm and John Webster and Charles Scotton Francis took his place.
