| Administrative History | The gas works in Staveley were being built in 1857 "by a company of £10 shareholders" according to White's Directory. By 1868 White lists Richard Swift as manager of the gas works. Kelly's Directory of 1881 refers to the Staveley Coke & Gas Light Co Ltd and the company appears in directories until 1928 but not in 1932. |
