Administrative History | Local Boards of Health were first set up in 1848 to administer services which related to public health in populated areas not covered by Borough Councils. Under the Public Health Act 1872 Local Boards of Health were designated Urban Sanitary Authorities and in 1894 these authorities became Urban District Councils under the Local Government Act of that year.
North Darley Local Board was instituted in 1864 and became an Urban Sanitary Authority in 1873 and an Urban District Council in December 1894. Under the Derbyshire Review Order 1934 the UDC was abolished and became a ward of Matlock Urban District. |
