Administrative History | The Litchurch Local Board of Health was established in 1866 under the provisions of the Public Health Act 1848 and Local Government Act 1858. The Board was responsible for providing, on behalf of the township of Litchurch, services with regard to sewerage, drainage, sanitation, street paving and lighting, slaughterhouses, the prevention of nuisances, street cleaning, new building regulations, and the regulation of Hackney carriages, cabs etc. With the extension of the Derby Borough boundaries to include Litchurch in 1877, the functions of the Local Board passed to the Derby Local Board, whose records are held under reference number D4538. |
