Administrative HistoryThe Manners Colliery Co Ltd was set up in the 19th century and operated the Manners Collieries at Ilkeston and the Lodge Collieries at Newthorpe, Nottinghamshire.
Frederick A Durance was manager of the Manners Colliery Co Ltd from 1909 and seems to have stayed until 1951, after coal nationalization. He studied as a mining engineer and started work at Butterley Company collieries before working for Manners.
