Archive CreatorTupton Primary School
Administrative HistoryA Board School with three departments to accommodate up to 600 children was built in New Tupton in 1875 by Clay Lane School Board. They opened in March 1876 with one department for boys and another for girls and infants, although the girls and infants were separated in June 1876. These departments were reunited in October 1922. The schools were reorganised for the new school year beginning August 1941, with the seniors (boys and girls) transferring 'to Clay Cross' and this school accommodating juniors and infants under Mr Fearn, former Boys headmaster.
Custodial HistoryThese records were deposited with Derbyshire Record Office by the school in August 1995 and January 2016. A further item was donated anonymously in November 2017. Digital copies of two log books (not yet deposited) were donated by a private individual in November 2021.
