Administrative HistoryThere was a Wesleyan Methodist Church and a Primitive Methodist Church in Castleton. The Wesleyan church was built in 1809 and re-erected in 1898. It was originally in the Bradwell Wesleyan Circuit.

The Primitive Methodist Church was built in 1833 and is believed to have closed in 1934. It had been in the Bradwell Primitive Circuit.
Custodial HistorySome of these records were accessioned as part of the records of the Peak Methodist Circuit. They were re-accessioned in 1994. Additional deposits were received at various dates between 1995 and July 2004.
