Administrative HistoryCounty-wide Family Practitioner Committees were set up in 1974 to replace the former National Health Service executive councils, covering Derby and Derbyshire. These in turn had replaced borough and county insurance Committee in 1948. Accounting and performance monitoring of doctors, dentists, opticians and chemists were the main functions of the committee, along with investigation of complaints by the public about individual practitioners.
