Custodial History
These items were donated to Derbyshire Record Office by Stoke on Trent Library to Derbyshire County Council in November 1953. They had been collected from a local solicitor's office during a Salvage Drive in 1942-3 by a W.E.A. Local History Group. On the disbandment of the group the papers were passed to Stoke-on-Trent City Museum and then passed to the Library, perhaps in 1952 or 1953.
Further items were donated e in May 2023 by Stoke-on-Trent City Archives having been found in the strong rooms as the service prepared to move to new premises. The content and condition (several items were glued to cardboard) suggests they may have been part of the same series of items that had been donated to Derbyshire Record Office by Stoke-on-Trent City Library in 1953. Therefore they have been added to the same collection, but further investigation is required before they be catalogued.
