| Administrative History | The Secondary Art School was formed from the Junior Art Department of the Derby School of Art. After the 1944 Education Act the School ceased to be a Department of the School of Art and became a Secondary Art School. |
| Custodial History | When the school closed, these records were held by Derby and South Derbyshire Area Education Office and transferred to Derbyshire Record Office in July 1988 as part of accession number D1458. The records were re-accessioned in October 1993. Additional records were transferred from Derby Local Studies Library in February 2003. |
