Archive CreatorCamms Endowed CE Primary School, Eckington
Administrative HistoryThe School was founded by Thomas Camm who, in 1702, settled property on trustees to use the income for the establishment of a school for poor children after his death. George Sitwell added to the endowment in 1775. Girls were admitted in 1880 and a separate infants department created in 1889. Later, the departments united to form a mixed infants school. In 1974, the Victorian school closed to be replaced by a purpose-built structure to accommodate 280 infants and juniors and 50 nursery pupils. The new school was opened by the Bishop of Derby on 27 June 1975.
Custodial HistoryThese records were deposited in Derbyshire Record Office at various dates from October 1991 to August 2000.
