| Administrative History | The Boys' School was built in 1830 and the Girls' in 1887. There was also an Infants' School, which was amalgamated with the Girls' School in 1925. The schools combined to become the Church of England Mixed School in April 1934.
To facilitate classification, a transfer of pupils took place between the Church of England School and Chapel Methodist School in October 1947. From this date, junior children were accomodated in the Methodist School, while the Church of England school accommodated pupils of secondary age only. This was a temporary measure, until the erection of a new secondary school. The County Secondary Modern School opened in Long Lane, Chapel-en-le-Frith, in 1952. |
