Administrative History | A mixed Council school was started in Ashbourne Road in 1903 for 7-14 year olds taking over from Board School (see D5380). Senior Boys and Girls Schools started probably in about 1910-1912, superseding the Preparatory School which had taken 10-14 year old girls. The Junior Mixed School was split into Junior Boys and Girls Schools in 1923. By 1954 the junior schools were called Ashgate, instead of Ashbourne Road, Schools. By the 1980s the Junior Boys and Girls Schools merged into a single Junior School. In 1999 the Infant and Junior School merged becoming Ashgate Primary School. |
Custodial History | Initial records were deposited by Ashgate Infant School, which occupies part of the Ashbourne Road site, in June 1991. Subsequent records were transferred to Derbyshire Record Office in June 2009. |
