This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:
Endorsed 'Mr Tho. Stanhope Lock at Borrowash Mills Apr.26 1721'. Size: 30 x 20 cm. Materials: ink on paper. Centred on: SK413341 Notes: north at top. Sketch plan of mills on river with weir and second watercourse shows named fields and a new channel, with accompanying notes explaining the damage that will be caused by making the lock and new channel. Location: DRO, D3155/WH1859
