Archive CreatorDronfield Cross Lanes Board School, later Dronfield Junior School
Administrative HistoryThe school, originally known as Cross Lanes Board School, opened in 1875 to accommodate children from families attracted to Dronfield by employment in new industries such as Wilson and Cammell's steelworks. There were separate schools for girls and boys. A new infants school was opened in September 1926. On reorganisation in 1955 the senior pupils transferred to a new high school, while the junior girls' and boys' schools amalgamated to form a county junior mixed school. In October 2000 the school held an Open Day to commemorate its 125th anniversary.
