TitleLetter from Francis Coke to John Gell, Hopton
Datec1635
DescriptionWas much troubled after their departure from Longford that they had not made an end of that troublesome matter - hopes JG will not take it ill if writer writes what he thinks - doubts it will be well taken that the matter was referred to the High Sheriff and JG, notwithstanding he had £7 14s in his hands more than the Ship Money, yet gave warrant to distrain for £10 or £12 more - the Board will never order him to have almost £20 charges in the matter - persuade Francis Eare to give this £7 14s to them and make a clean end of the matter - the times are dangerous to travel to the Court in this infectious time - writer is still dangerously sick
