Title
Letter from Francis Coke to John Gell, Hopton
Date
c1635
Description
Was much troubled after their departure from Longford that they had not made an end of that troublesome matter - hopes JG will not take it ill if writer writes what he thinks - doubts it will be well taken that the matter was referred to the High Sheriff and JG, notwithstanding he had £7 14s in his hands more than the Ship Money, yet gave warrant to distrain for £10 or £12 more - the Board will never order him to have almost £20 charges in the matter - persuade Francis Eare to give this £7 14s to them and make a clean end of the matter - the times are dangerous to travel to the Court in this infectious time - writer is still dangerously sick
