Letter from John Gell to his son Philip Gell - has not yet received any summons from cousins Willoughby and does not suppose his evidence will be material - takes it that the rents paid to the bailiff were chief rents, not fee farm rents - would have Philip accept an invitation from a lady - the judge's experience may be helpful in his studies - many in two towns [Hopton and Carsington] have been visited with sickness and several are dead, 26 Mar
