Left Brussels two months ago and took a tour to Strasburg with Mr Brown - Germany very romantic he has ever seen - sailed from Mainz to Köln - Frankfurt is one of the finest Imperial towns - apart from the great towns, accomodation bad - the Elector of Köln has a very fine palace at Bonn - the French troops at Strasburg are very fine looking fellows - reads natural law with Mr Brown every morning - when he has gone through that, will attend the College of Civil Law - no plays or public diversions - the peasants live in great plenty - will be glad to hear that the China work has success. 4 Oct
