Administrative HistoryThis division appears at first to have been known simply as Alfreton Petty Sessional Division. The court's area of jurisdiction included Alfreton, Ashover, Blackwell, Brackenfield, Clay Lane (Clay Cross), Ironville, Morton, Pilsley Pinxton, Riddings, Shirland, Somercotes, South Normanton, South Wingfield, Stretton, Swanwick, Tibshelf and Wessington.
Custodial HistoryThese records were transferred to Derbyshire Record Office under Section 4(1) of the Public Records Act by the Clerk to the Petty Sessional Division later Magistrates' Court in December 1963, November 1966 and July 1978 and by the deputy clerk to Ilkeston Magistrates' Court in May 1987.
