| Administrative History | The parish of Dronfield includes the churches of St John the Baptist Dronfield, St Andrew Gosforth Valley, St Philip Holmesdale and St Mary Unstone. It is served by a team ministry which forms a group ministry in conjunction with St Swithun Holmesfield. Dronfield parish, before nineteenth century changes, consisted of the townships of Dronfield, Holmesfield, Dore, Totley, Unstone, Coal Aston and part of Little Barlow. There were chapelries at Holmesfield and Dore, the latter covering the townships of Dore and Totley; these became separate parishes in 1857 and 1844 respectively. Dore parish is now part of the diocese of Sheffield. Four churchwardens were appointed each year, representing Dronfield, Unstone and Coal Aston, Holmesfield, and Dore and Totley. Dronfield Woodhouse (including Cowley, Mickley and Stubley) is included in this parish. |
