Administrative HistoryBenjamin Bakewell (1767-1844) was the son of Joseph Bakewell and Sarah Woodhouse. He emigrated to America in 1793 and in 1808 purchased a flint glass company in Pittsburgh. The company, known variously as the Pittsburgh Glass Manufactory, Bakewell & Page, and Bakewell, Pears & Co, was a successful glassware producer which was in business for 80 years.
