DescriptionThis map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:

Plan of an estate at Bentley near Ashborne in the County of Derby belonging to Richard Beresford Esq. with other lands belonging to Burton Charity. [18c.] Scale: of 20 chains [1:4800]. Size: 56 x 54 cm. Materials: ink on vellum. Centred on: SK175502 Notes: compass indicator, top of sheet NNE. Shows closes, about 242 acres, with boundary hedges, reference numbers and adjoining owners in 2 parcels: (i) on both sides of Ashbourne to Buxton road, north of churchyard to Tissington Mill: (ii) both sides of Ashbourne to Bentley Bridge road: a table gives reference numbers, tenants, field names, areas: title in floral cartouche: some pencil additions.
